Join Team Go All In for the Summer of Sport

At the start of an incredible summer of sport, today (8 June 2026) we are launching a new campaign asking the nation to join Team Go All In. We’re bringing together some of the UK’s most-loved sporting names behind a powerful call to action:

If you’re into sport, read into it. Join Team Go All In.

The campaign will run from June through August to harness the nation’s passion for sport to help embed regular reading habits, with activity aligned to a packed sporting calendar including Test Match Cricket, the Men’s Football World Cup, Wimbledon, Formula 1 British Grand Prix, the Women’s T20 World Cup, and the Commonwealth Games in August.

Broadcaster and presenter Clare Balding, tennis legend Tim Henman, England footballer Georgia Stanway and fitness coach and author Joe Wicks are Go All In Team Captains, alongside Rugby League Captain Jodie Cunningham, and F1 author and commentator Maurice Hamilton. Prominent social media and broadcast stars EABskills, Karel Prince, Adam Smith (Smithy), and Alex Moneypenny / DiffKnock are also joining the team, along with YouTube legends and children’s book authors 5IVE GUYS FC, to reach younger and digitally-engaged audiences. And Final Score presenter Jason Mohammad, legendary BBC commentator John Murray, and TV presenter and BBC World Cup Scotland camp reporter Eilidh Barbour will also lend their support throughout the summer.

Team Captains will be sharing the stories behind the players, the sports and the tournaments to show how reading can bring fans even closer to the game. Across social media and at live events, they will reflect on how reading has helped develop their love of sport, what they read while travelling, training, or winding down, and the ways they will Go All In this summer. Most importantly, they will showcase the powerful links between reading and sports.

“Books and movement have both played such an important role in my life. As a kid, exercise helped build my confidence, resilience and self-belief, and reading can do exactly the same. I’m really proud to support the Go All In Summer of Sport campaign because it’s about helping children discover the joy of stories, imagination and learning in a fun and positive way. If we can inspire even a few more young people to pick up a book this summer and realise that reading is for everyone, that’s a really wonderful thing”

Joe Wicks, Fitness Coach and Author

“This year, I’ll be reading Ultra Women by Lily Canter and Emma Wilkinson. For me, reading has always been a great way to stay motivated, learn something new and gain a different perspective. Whether it’s books, articles or stories about sport, I’m always looking for ideas and experiences that can help me grow both on and off the pitch.”

Georgia Stanway, England footballer

“For me books are more than entertainment, they connect me to the worlds I love most, whether that’s the intensity and madness of sport, the creativity and joy of music, or the personal journeys of extraordinary people.”

Jason Mohammad, Final Score presenter

In the National Year of Reading, we are celebrating reading in all its forms: books, audiobooks, match day programmes, player statistics, manager autobiographies, graphic novels, comics and digital content, demonstrating that there is no single right way to read. The invitation is open to everyone: regular readers and those just starting out.

You can find great sporting reading lists here, with recommendations for books, magazines, podcasts and picture books. But this is just the beginning – there’s a world of stories out there to help you Go All In on sport, or whatever you’re into.

Just as sport brings us all together, fans are encouraged to use reading as a way to build connection and community, from recommending a book to a friend, listening to an audiobook as a family, joining a book club, or taking part in events at a local library.

Beano, DC Thomson, GLL, Audible, Tesco and First News will be championing the campaign through reading recommendations, in-store displays and events, content creation, editorial coverage and more.

These national partnerships will be supported by activations in communities across the UK – from libraries to sports clubs to schools – with the aim of inspiring millions of people to rediscover the joy of reading.

“We’re using the power of sport to inspire a love of reading for millions of people of all ages across the UK, sharing the stories behind the medals, moments and matches. Sporting events are some of the most important national talking points of the year, moments that bring generations together. We want to embed reading within that national conversation, so that sharing stories becomes as natural a part of sport as talking about last night’s result.”

David Hayman, Director of the National Year of Reading
